Engineering Change Management

Due to modern realities in operating shipping vessels - from strict environmental regulations to heightened security awareness - coping with change has become a popular topic of the moment for ship managers in the industry. What has not been adequately addressed, however, is change management aimed at Engineers, who must make a theoretical desired change technically possible.

This bulletin examines change management from the Engineer's perspective to lay out a process called Engineering Change Management (ECM). It details a method by which technical alterations can be accomplished within a multi-step logical sequence.
