Armed robbery in a retail store

Retail premises can be highly vulnerable to criminal activity, although this risk can be mitigated through a variety of proactive measures. In this case study, we review how in broad daylight two men with motorcycle helmets entered this store with a firearm and demanded the money from the cash register and the safe. A significant amount of cash and checks were in the cash register at the time of the robbery, all of which were taken and the incident also had a psychological impact on the employees there at the time.

The risks which worsened this loss and the lessons that can be learnt from this incident are reviewed in this risk bulletin.
