On May 2, 2013, AGCS hosted an evening at the Royal Institution of Great Britain. Joining in our support of the charity BeyondAutism was internationally acclaimed scientist, best-selling author and Director of Research at the Center for Theoretical Cosmology at Cambridge, Professor Stephen Hawking.
Carsten Scheffel, CEO AGCS Regional Unit London, welcomed the 375 guests and opened the event by noting that, as a leading international insurer, AGCS takes its corporate social responsibilities very seriously and is committed to helping raise awareness about BeyondAutism in the UK, a charity Professor Hawking supports.
Professor Hawking began his presentation with “A Brief History of Mine,” his own tale of how he was born exactly 300 years after the death of Galileo and became an acknowledged thought-leader in his field. Hawking gave insight into his own career, telling the tale of how an ordinary boy became one of the world's greatest living scientists.
