Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty Expands North American Crisis Management Team

New York, April 18, 2017 - In full recognition of the increasingly complex challenges companies face when triggered by catastrophic events, government instability or product recalls, Allianz Group’s specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty® (AGCS) announces several personnel appointments to its North American Crisis Management Team:  Alex Pittignano has been named Executive Underwriter, and both Randy Esposito and Jillian Shelby have joined as Underwriting Specialists.  All will report to Marcos Garcia Norris, Regional Practice Group Leader for Crisis Management, North America.

Launched in 2016, the AGCS Crisis Management division in North America assists clients in preventing, preparing for and recovering from crisis incidents; it resides within AGCS’s global Liability line of business and provides insurance and service solutions pertaining to 1) product recall and contamination, 2) hostile environment, and 3) terrorism and political violence. Beyond covering financial losses, AGCS also offers its clients crisis management assistance services on a 24/7 basis, regardless of location, through its partner company red24.

“Whether it’s business interruption caused by a recall or protest riot, AGCS identified the importance of continuing the expansion of its crisis management expertise in both the U.S. and Canada,” said Garcia Norris. “As the underwriting exposures and needs of our clients change constantly, a strong local knowledge base and service structure must be in place. Our new colleagues have an exemplary track record and have established themselves as respected and clear experts in this unique field.”

Alex Pittignano is based in New York and has more than two decades of top-level experience in the insurance industry with several companies, including the position of Senior Vice President at Starr Companies and several management roles within AIG. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and Civil Engineering as well as a Masters of Engineering degree from Manhattan College.

Randy Esposito is also based in NY and has over 10 years of experience in global corporate security risk and crisis management. Prior to joining AGCS, Esposito was the Vice President of Operations at Hudson Analytix Inc. where he worked to provide leadership and oversight for the company’s day to day operations. He studied at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology and is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

In addition, Jillian Shelby also brings more than a decade of industry experience and is based in Chicago. She first joined AGCS in 2006 as a member of its competitive Underwriting Associate Training Program working for three years as a Middle Market Commercial Underwriter; she returned to AGCS in 2015 as a Middle Market Program Manager. Jillian earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Illinois State University.

Head of Global Crisis Management, Christof Bentele said, “We are pleased to welcome professionals of Alex, Randy and Jillian’s caliber to both AGCS and the North American Crisis Management team. With our focused talent in place, we can further cement our position as a leader in the Crisis Management insurance market, delivering a high quality of service for the benefit of both our clients and brokers.”
