Allianz Fire and Marine Insurance Japan Ltd. was established in 1990 to engage in the non-life insurance business in Japan. At that point, Allianz was one of the international insurers to receive a license for the non-life insurance business under the Insurance Business Act in Japan.
In 2010, Allianz Fire and Marine Insurance Japan Ltd. (AGCS Japan) became a part of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS). As the fourth largest property and casualty insurance market in the world, Japan is an important market for Allianz, and AGCS expects to grow its services for international corporate clients in Japan.
As a member of AGCS, AGCS Japan is now able to access a specialist network which can support Japanese companies through international insurance programs worldwide in more than 160 countries. Our industry Global Practice Groups maintain standards for risk assessment, grading and pricing to ensure that our clients can expect the same consistently high level of expertise and underwriting throughout our network.
AGCS Japan has an "AA" (stable) rating from the Standard & Poor's rating agency. This rating reflects the foundations we have established since we set up AGCS Japan as the first licensed German and European insurer in Japan 24 years ago. With this rating, we can now offer our clients outstanding financial security as well as the full range of AGCS’s global services including property, liability, engineering, marine, energy and financial lines.
