Meet Michelle from Casualty Management

AGCS Hong Kong

Michele TseHow did you hear about AGCS?

Since I have already been with Allianz for over 10 years I have experienced the foundation of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in 2006. Previously my unit was called Allianz Global Risks which mainly dealt with corporate and speciality risks. To me, AGCS is a more dedicated business unit for specialized risks supported by the Allianz Group’s huge capacity and technical expertise.

What makes AGCS different from other insurers and why did you choose to apply here?

There were many reasons for me to choose AGCS. It represents a company with a strong and sustainable global position. The Allianz branding is of premier level and its extensive network can be found in more than 160 countries worldwide. This is why I like to be part of the AGCS family.

What was your first day at AGCS like? Any specific moments that you remember?

Although it's already been a while since my first day at AGCS I still remember it quite clearly. I would say it was memorable to meet the energetic team and start working towards a common goal to build on our success. With the recent integration happening for AGCS Hong Kong we are opening a new chapter which is quite exciting and has increased my motivation.

What do you like best about working at AGCS?

AGCS provides us with a very dynamic environment which drives our motivation and offers a lot of opportunities for us.

What does a typical working day in your current role entail?

Being a Casualty Manager in Hong Kong, my main responsibility is to maintain a profitable casualty portfolio. Following my dual reporting lines I report to two bosses: one at local level in Hong Kong and one at regional level in Singapore. We share the responsibility, decision making and stress teamwork. My daily tasks involve arranging global and regional program quotations for international corporate business, managing relationships with brokers and agents and monitoring the top and bottom line figures.

Can you describe your job in three sentences?

  1. Full of challenges but a rewarding experience.
  2. Proud to work for the AGCS family.
  3. Looking forward to building my future with AGCS.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now? What would you like to achieve?

I would like to keep going, move my career forward and that way earn even more recognition.
